I attended my first "Board Meeting" at one of my churches last night. It was actually a good meeting as meetings go. I did a brief teaching with the goal of having people reflect on what they think this church would look like if it were "perfect." We'll see how that conversation continues. My goal is to have a common mission and vision and goals developed over the next few months. Really, I just want to try to focus our attention on the mission field--on people who aren't a part of any church.
On the way home I was really picking my brain to come up with ways that we can begin reaching out to people in our mission field. But, I was also thinking, there's a need here to help people grow in their relationship with Christ and learn to be missional with me. So I was caught in this tension between reaching currently unknown people and developing the people that we do know. Both are important and need to be done. I thought, "Where do I start?" Then, in a hand-to-forehead moment, I thought, "Prayer." We need to come together and pray. That's where we start, with prayer. So, Step 1 is now: Recruit a Prayer Team. (Now I just have to define what that is. Fortunately I have some good resources on that if I can just find which box they're packed in.) What do you think a Prayer Team focused on |
About MeI am a Software Developer, a career shift made in 2018. So far, I have experience with C# .Net and Angular. I continue to let curiosity lead me into learning new technologies. I plan to share what I learn along the way about technology and personal/career life. Previously, my vocation was United Methodist pastor. So in addition to coding, I'll share about theology, the Church and The Bible. I also enjoy running, music, and I'm a deeply committed father and husband. Maybe my experiences will help you. I know it helps me to share. Archives
